Come and enjoy the virgin forests of the Sumava National Park (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), pensive hamlets surrounded by the lush meadows, fascinating moors and mountain lakes, caller water of rivers jumping over the giant stones, long vistas over the undulating foothills far, far away. Visits to the towns of Cesky Krumlov and Holasovice (UNESCO Heritage Site) and canoeing on the Vltava (Moldau) River are options of the tour besides Prague. WHEN TO GO? Any time between May and October. Just tell us. Daily distances are 17 -50 km at a medium difficulty level (optional trips). Prague? Cesky Krumlov and Holasovice (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites) are available as an additional option - just tell us. Too long daily trips? Too short? Missing anything? Add extra day? Tell us, no problem.
Day 2 - A round trip upwards to the Boubin primeval forest, one of the last virgin islands of greenery in Europe. The second option offers a round trip to the hamlets and villages of the Sumava Mts. Overnight ditto. Day 3 - From Vimperk via pleasant waving countryside along scenic path via the Javornik Mountain with its beautiful views of the Sumava massif and the scenic foothills. Overnight in Stachy and/or surroundings. Day 4 - A round trip up towards the mountain ridge among Sumava farms to Jezerní moor, a precious nature reserve with fascinating carnivorous flora accessible by wooden pavements. The second option takes you to the source of the Vltava (Moldau) river, the cult river for Czehcs, an inspiration of artists. Composer Bedrich Smetana and his Vltava are especially famous. Overnight ditto. Day 5 - A trip along the radiant Vydra (Otter) River valley with its fantastic stone pot geological formations. Explore age old Schwarzenberg channel - used to be as a the main way for transport of the timber down the river. Accommodation in the Rejstejn area. Days 6 and 7 - Optional round trips to the ruins of Kasperk Castle with fantastic long views and/or a mediaeval royal gold-mining town, or to forgotten villages in the Busil Valley where time seems to have stood still; the glacial mountain lakes are also definitely worth a visit.
