UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES AND NATIONAL PARKS OF CENTRAL EUROPE

Many of the world's greatest heritage attractions are distant, hard to get to, inaccessible and off the beaten track. Heritage sites in Central Europe are easy to reach, thanks to cultural density and the connectivity provided by the excellent network of paths for cyclists and uniquely marked trails for hikers.

In addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the traveller can find many beautiful mediaeval castles and chateaux, towns with Renaissance and Baroque palaces, remote picturesque villages, undulating vineyards and beautiful mountains.
Below you can find some of them.

The articulated area of Podyjí is a part of the hilly country on the southeastern border of the Czech and Moravian highlands, while only its eastern border reaches into the Dyje-Svratka Vale. The geological base is formed mostly by acid rocks of the Moravicum of the Dyje vault and the Dyje massif. The national park presents an exeptionally well-preserved picture of river-valley landscape in the hilly grade of Middle Europe. The canyon of Dyje forms a unique river phenomenon with numerous meanders, deeply incised valleys of the tributaries, all kinds of rock-forms, stone runs and stone walls. The majority of such valleys was changed by building of dams, roads and recreation facilities. The area is outstanding in its high diversity of plant and animal communities developed through various exposition of the slopes of the Dyje valley. The natural axis of the area is the river Dyje. On its 40 km way from Vranov to Znojmo it has formed a canyon-like valley in the rocks of the Czech massif, 200 meters (650 ft) deep in some places.
